Meet the hoodookattz!!!
Danny Burns
rhythm guitar / vocals
Danny's love for music began at a very early age... as a small child, he would pound out a beat on his brother's guitar case as his brother played guitar to country classics of the time. Then one day his life changed. His brother brought home an album that would change his outlook on music and his life. That album was Led Zeppelin II. Upon hearing Jimmy Page, Danny was hooked!!! That one album began a lifelong obsession with Rock & Roll, Blues, Funk and R&B. While everyone else was listening to disco in the late '70's, Danny was listening to ZZ Top, Montrose, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. His brother had shown him a few chords on the guitar... so when his brother was away, he'd play around on his Les Paul copy.
As a self -taught guitarist, he eventually found that he loved playing rhythm guitar. Sure - lead guitarists get all of the glory, but Danny found that the rhythm guitar solidly anchors the band and is the conduit that everything in the band runs through. Eddie Van Halen said - "You have to know rhythm guitar in order to be a good lead guitar player". Danny says - "If you love what you do... why change it?"
Danny has played in the bands Band X, Twisted Biscuit Band, Slowtowne Serenaders and is a founding member of both Handcuff Charlie and the Hoodookattz.
Tim skaggs
Bass guitar / vocals
Born and raised in Clarksville, AR and now residing in Franklin County, AR, Tim got involved in music in the early 1980s playing guitar first and moving to bass guitar due to the needs of a local band.
Tim’s first band, The Blue Stone Band, played around western and northwest Arkansas at various venues and festivals through the 1980s. The Blue Stone Band opened for a DR. Hook and the Medicine Show concert at the University of the Ozarks in 1983.
Toward the end of the 80s, Tim played in a rock trio, The Situation, and continued playing festivals and private events in the Clarksville area. He also picked up the fiddle and began dabbling in folk and bluegrass music as a spare time hobby.
Due to a career change, Tim moved to the Ozark area of Franklin County in 1990 and stopped playing music to focus on career. After a year or so, Tim was invited to jam with some local Ozark area musicians and eventually became a member of the Rat Sass Band for several years, playing in western AR and eastern OK. The Rat Sass Band opened for the Southern Rock band “Blackfoot” at a concert in Morrilton, AR in 1997.
Toward the late 90’s Tim was invited to join the Tone Kats Band and played all Electric Blues for a few years.
In the early 2000s Tim also became active in Bluegrass and played in bands, Flatwound and Flat Broke & Lonesome where he played upright bass and some fiddle. Flat Broke & Lonesome continues to play festivals & events in the Franklin County area.
Tim remained active part time in Rat Sass while with the Tone Kats, and rejoined Rat Sass to play regularly until the late 20-teens. Tim joined the Mama Tryde band in early 2021 and played around Central and Western Arkansas until 2023.
Tim joined The Hoodookattz on bass guitar in August of 2023 and remains active playing events and venues in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.
